Outcome of Momentum NCG election

I would like to thank all those comrades that nominated and voted for me in the NCG election. As I suspected I have not done very well, but then the whole election has been a gerrymandered farce. The exceptionally low turnout must cast doubt on the credibility of the policy-making OMOV advocated by the Momentum leadership.

I have never wanted to accept the charge, from both critics on the Left and Right, that Momentum is a cult. However, the conduct of this election has shown Jon Lansman to be an L Ron Hubbard type character surrounded by his slavish adherents. The promotion of the slates of his preferred candidates and the way these were circulated on social media displayed the kind of behaviour that you would expect from a cult.

The test of Momentum in the coming months will be how well it supports local groups in the struggles against right-wing control of Labour as a political party. If the aim of affiliation is to be pursued, with Lansman trying to cut a deal with McNicol and Watson, I believe that the compromises demanded will be to the detriment of the local groups who mount a challenge to the Party establishment. Those comrades elected to the NCG have a duty to defend the interests of the local groups, and not to be subserviant to the careerist ambitions of Lansman, Shawcroft and Wright.
